New: Opening of the new funicular railway in Hallstatt

After just one year of construction, the new funicular railway to the Hallstatt salt mountain was opened in August 2026. Compared to the old funicular (built in 1980), which was demolished in 2025, it now has double the capacity. The two 60-person carriages allow for an hourly transport capacity of 1,000 people. The newly built valley station with its flagship store and the new mountain station with its bistro and terrace are also very impressive.
We wish the new salt mountain railway many successful years!
